Dave Prentis,
UNISON's general secretary
A
strike ballot covering our 100,000 local government
members in Scotland closes later this week.
They have been offered and rejected pay increases of
2.5% for each of the next three years. Members of
GMB and Unite are also being balloted for action
over the pay offer.
We are obviously willing to meet Scottish local
council employers at any time to negotiate an
improved offer.
Our campaign for our members in England, Wales and
Northern Ireland will continue. We have postponed
naming a further strike day to allow talks with the
employers to take place.
