UNISON has 20,000 craft members, 15,000 in Local Government you have two representatives, 2 seats on the National Local Government Committee, NLGC. There are also two seats for craft members on the Regional Local Government Committee, RLGC. Your representatives ask that you use this web page to raise the profile of craft membership in the North West Region.

"Craft Matters" is also a Newsletter published twice a year available through branches and through the communications Department in London where you can order past and current publications, this also has raised the profile of craft members being designed by craft members for craft members. We are reliant on your input to this newsletter on any issues you may have or interesting issues happening in your area.

We would also ask for you to fill in the text box answering the question, which in turn will tell UNISON where you are and how many we have in the region. The North West Region is committed to holding a series of meetings specifically for craft members in 2004 the problem is that Branches are not responding to correspondence sent out from regional office advertising craft meetings. It is important that you fill in the text box below.

What is a craft worker ?

Someone who has served a 5 year apprenticeship recognised by the craft union Amicus, UCATT, T&GWU, Federation of Ship builders and Allied Trades

Someone who inline or agreement of the above NVQ qualifications, or attendance at a  college on a recognised associated trade NVQ qualification.

Caretakers are required to carry out some of this trade work as part of their contracts of employment, having NVQ qualifications, it may follow that they may qualify.
